Journalism Panel at JCU - July 25, 2006

John Carroll hosted a journalism panel for a group of mayors touring the US from Moldova. The panel, moderated by Assistant Communications Professor Richard Hendrickson, included Jeremy Jackson, press officer for the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation; Dave Davis, project editor for the Plain Dealer; David Knox ('72 JCU graduate), investigative reporter and manager of computer assisted reporting at the Akron Beacon Journal; and Wendy Hoke, free-lance writer, national membership officer for the Society of Professional Journalists and columnist for SPJ's Quill magazine. The panel first discussed the "coingate" scandal involving the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, and then the case involving the NY Times' Judith Miller, who went to jail rather than reveal a news source.
